What we do

Frame, roof and the right fit for the site.

A palapa is a natural thatch roof on timber posts, usually round or polygonal. We build them complete: the frame, the thatching and a design that suits its surroundings.

We have built palapas for homeowners, hotels, restaurants, beach bars and entire houses. We can produce any design in round timber or glulam.

  • Design adapted to the surroundings
  • Round timber or glulam
  • Practical solutions recommended by the people who build them

Where they go

Four places where a palapa works.

  • By the pool

Shade for eating or relaxing without leaving the water’s edge.

  • In the garden

As a free-standing gazebo, with a table, bar or seating area.

  • On the beach

Over beach bar terraces and sunlounger areas.

  • At hotels

For pool bars, outdoor receptions and chill-out areas.

Repairs

A tired palapa doesn’t always need pulling down.

If parts of the roof have deteriorated, the thatch in those areas is replaced and the rest is gone over. We travel with material and a technical team to do it anywhere in Spain.

We repair the palapas we built ourselves and those built by others.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about palapas

What is the difference between a palapa and a pergola?

In everyday usage, a palapa is a free-standing conical or polygonal roof on posts; a pergola is usually rectangular and can be attached to the house. The material and the technique are the same.

Can it be made with tiles instead of bundles?

Yes. Conical roofs work well with tiles, which are quicker to fit; bundles give more thickness and more years.

What diameter can it be?

Whatever you need: it is built to measure and the frame is sized accordingly.

Do you repair old palapas?

Yes, we replace the deteriorated thatch and go over the rest of the roof.
