Tool
How much material does your roof need?
Enter the plan dimensions and the pitch. The calculator works out the true area of the roof, the pieces required and what the material costs.
How it’s calculated
What the calculator takes into account.
- The pitch. The true area is the plan area divided by the cosine of the angle: at 30° there is 15% more roof; at 45°, 41% more.
- The coverage of each material. African thatch tiles cover at 4.5 pieces per square metre; synthetic palm thatch, at about 15 or 16.
- An allowance for cuts. On roofs with hips or rounded shapes it is worth increasing it.
- What it doesn’t calculate: bundle thatch. That depends on the thickness and the shape, and we measure it for you.
No-obligation quote
Tell us what you want to cover and we’ll tell you what it costs.
The measurements, a photo of the site or the plans are all we need to prepare a quote for the material, with delivery and, if you need it, installation.
